KYBELLA® is a revolutionary cosmetic treatment that can help many patients reduce the appearance of a “double-chin” and even improve dental aesthetics. This innovative procedure does not require surgery; in fact, KYBELLA® only requires a series of injections to begin a process that can diminish excess fat under the chin and achieve a renewed neck contour. Our dentist in San Francisco can meet with you for an initial consultation to determine whether KYBELLA® is the right option for your needs and goals.

What Is KYBELLA®?
KYBELLA® is an injectable treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat submental fullness (excess fat that has collected under the chin and in the upper region of the neck). The KYBELLA® solution includes a substance called deoxycholic acid, which is a molecule that is natural to the human body. Once KYBELLA® is injected into the areas targeted for treatment, the deoxycholic acid can work to gradually break down the excess fat under the chin. These fat cells will then be filtered out of the body over time, leading to a slimmer neck and a more contoured profile.
It is important to note that KYBELLA® is only effective for patients who are experiencing signs of a double-chin due to a collection of excess fat, rather than excess skin. Individuals who have concerns that are mainly caused by loose, inelastic skin in the upper area of the neck are typically not ideal candidates for KYBELLA®. Dr. Jarrod Cornehl will examine your neck and talk with you about your concerns during the initial consultation. If KYBELLA® is an ideal treatment for your needs, Dr. Cornehl can create a customized treatment plan designed to meet your expectations.
What Are the Benefits of KYBELLA®?
It is extremely common for excess fat to collect under the chin, even among individuals who follow strict diets and exercise regularly. KYBELLA® may be a perfect solution for this concern. Benefits offered by KYBELLA® include:
- Reduction of excess fat in the upper neck to minimize the appearance of a double-chin
- Adjustment of the lip and smile lines of the lower lip in relation to the teeth
- The treatment does not involve surgery or general anesthesia
- The treatment is typically a quick, in-office procedure and does not require a hospital stay
- Minimal recovery time
- Long-lasting results
What Does the KYBELLA® Treatment Entail?
KYBELLA® procedures are performed right here at our practice and can often be completed in about 20 minutes or less, depending on each patient’s unique needs and goals. The KYBELLA® solution will be carefully injected into the targeted areas; a topical numbing agent applied to the skin can diminish any potential discomfort from the injections.
Over the next few weeks and months, the KYBELLA® solution should cause the excess fat under the chin to gradually fade. The results should begin to become noticeable after approximately two to three weeks. While some individuals may only require one KYBELLA® treatment for the best outcome, many patients may need two or three treatment sessions to achieve the ideal result. Dr. Cornehl can give you a better idea of how many KYBELLA® treatments will be necessary to meet your expectations once he has examined you during the initial consultation.
Does KYBELLA® Have Side Effects?
Although KYBELLA® treatment does not typically require an extensive period of downtime, most patients should expect some degree of temporary redness, swelling, and mild bruising around the injection sites following the procedure. These effects should fade within the next few days, and most individuals are able to resume their normal daily routines after about 24 to 48 hours.
How Long Does KYBELLA® Last?
The longevity of results from KYBELLA® treatment is one of the most prominent benefits of this advanced procedure. As long as patients ensure they maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen while minimizing weight fluctuations, the effects of KYBELLA® can last many years into the future.
What Does KYBELLA® Cost?
The cost of KYBELLA® at our practice typically starts at approximately $900 per session. Factors that affect the total price of KYBELLA® procedures include the number of injections that will be necessary for optimal results and other components that are unique to each patient’s customized treatment plan. Once Dr. Cornehl has met with you for an initial consultation and evaluated your needs, he will design your treatment program and a friendly member of our staff will calculate the total cost estimate. DENTAL STUDIO SF accepts a broad range of payment methods, including financing arrangements available through Cherry, LendingClub® and ALPHAEON® Credit.
