He stays informed of the latest technologies and techniques in dentistry, and incorporates them into his practice when he determines they will benefit his patients. In recent months, the DENTAL STUDIO has accomplished the following in order to continue to bring you safe, effective care:
Staff CPR/AED training:
The entire team completed training in the BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers CPR/AED recertification class. This class is specifically designed for healthcare professionals, including those in the dental industry. Here is what was included in our recertification:
- CPR for all ages
- Using the bag-valve mask to maintain oxygenation through the airway during an emergency
- Proper use of an AED (automated external defibrillator), which may be required in the event of sudden cardiac arrest
- What to do if a foreign object is obstructing a person’s airway
The certification is valid for 2 years. It satisfies the requirements for California hospitals. Dentists and other healthcare professionals take these kinds of courses so that they are prepared for various types of emergencies that could arise. Every precaution is taken to prevent medical emergencies in dental practices, but as healthcare professionals, we have a duty to make sure we are prepared.
New AED machine:
In addition to AED training and certification, we have recently purchased a new machine for the practice. It is a Philips HeartStart. This on-site defibrillator is easy to use and allows us to have life-saving technology in our office, in case of any unforeseen emergencies. You have probably seen these devices in other locations, including airports and grocery stores.
New autoclave for sterilizing dental instruments:
Using extremely hot, high-pressure steam, an autoclave sterilizes the dental instruments we use to provide your dental care. This sterilization kills any microorganisms or germs on the instruments, so that they are safe and ready to use from patient to patient. We recently added a new autoclave, the Mocom B Classic. This is a great addition to our existing autoclave.
Upgraded digital x-ray sensors:
In mid-2017, the DENTAL STUDIO upgraded from digital x-ray sensors to the new Planmeca ProSensor® HD. These intraoral sensors provide cutting-edge image quality and come in three different sizes to increase your comfort. They also have rounded edges. Intraoral images show a high level of detail, including decay, microbial leakage around filings and fractures in the tooth.
